After round one at Toriki, we hopped in a taxi and headed over to Bebop’s place.
Rikuro Ojisan cheesecake
A cake Bebop brought back from a business trip to Osaka. Similar cakes have started showing up in Korea these days too.
Tonight’s wine
Poured through a decanter, the wine’s fresh aroma really stood out. Price aside, it was a genuinely delicious wine.
According to Bebop’s tweet: “Farnese Casale Vecchio. A Montepulciano d’Abruzzo. Rich aromas of plum, cassis and blueberry with a moderate body. An unbelievable price of around 1,700 yen in Japan. Why does the price go up in Korea just because it appeared in the Japanese manga The Drops of God?” I have no idea why it goes up either, but I had better drink plenty of it while it can be had cheaply in Japan.
Ham
All sorts of nibbles kept coming out. You could fairly call it a drinker’s paradise.
Cakes from Au Bon Vieux Temps
These are the Ali Baba and the Mont Cafe. A certain someone who came all the way from Korea for Bebop, the guest of honour that day, brought them. The Ali Baba is a cake soaked in brandy, and it is delicious when you eat it sober, but eating it while completely drunk did not do much for me ㅠ.ㅜ The Mont Cafe, on the other hand, with its deep coffee flavour, was just right as a dessert to go with drinks. Bebop was praising Au Bon Vieux Temps’ pistachio cake called the Snob, and I bet that one would go brilliantly with drinks too.
Cheese
There were raisins and all kinds of other snacks laid out too, but it seems I forgot to take photos.
La France pears
He even peeled the pears for us himself. I hardly knew where to put myself.
Prepping nekomanma
Bebop suddenly got the urge and started making nekomanma right away. While the rice was cooking in the orange pot, he was shaving katsuobushi with a wooden plane.
Katsuobushi
The aroma.. is unreal.. I can forget every katsuobushi I have ever eaten before this.
The finished version
It is simply delicious, nothing more to say ㅠ.ㅜ I am just so grateful for such an extravagant treat.
Yamazaki highball
A highball Bebop mixed himself. He squeezed the lemon straight into it, which made it even more refreshing. This is what a real highball tastes like.
It was a wonderful evening of eating and drinking the best snacks and booze until late at night. My sincere thanks to Bebop for putting together such a special occasion!
