2chef is a restaurant I go to way too often, so a lot of the content overlaps and it feels awkward to split it into separate posts. So I’m going to gather them up by quarter and put them out together. ^_^ It made the Blue Ribbon list recently too — I hope business keeps going well~
A Chilean wine recommended by the restaurant
I remember the recommendations here always being good…
Chestnut soup
It’s a little embarrassing to be posting autumn food only now. Anyway, it was delicious. I wish every season could be autumn ^_^
Figs
There were loads of figs around this autumn. All of them were delicious.
Porcini spaghetti
Sure enough, out came a spaghetti that matched the season.
Tenderloin steak
Yeah.. well.. of course it’s good..
Dessert
A bit of a different approach is fun too.
Wine snacks
These days I drop by for the second round more often than the first. So I often just have some simple wine snacks.
Wine snacks again
I really ought to buy more of their wine, but it seems I only make it there now and then. I’ve been busy lately.
Tomato spaghetti
The à la carte spaghetti here is always satisfying.
Melon
I ate a lot of melon as a wine snack too..
Triomphe cakes
I heard there was a cake shop in Ilsan called Triomphe, opened by someone who trained at a well-known Paris patisserie, so I asked an acquaintance to buy some for me. The taste was so-so.. The name sounded great so I had high hopes, but it didn’t quite live up to them.
Cheval des Andes
A wine made jointly by Cheval Blanc and an Argentine company. Not quite on the level of Cheval Blanc.. but it had a refined taste. I thought it would be worth buying by the case.
Rosebank & Sandeman port
The Rosebank is a single malt I brought back myself, and its style is distinctive. I’d written off the port because it was Sandeman, but at around ten years old it tasted really good. The power of ageing, I suppose.
The wine course
We ordered the course at a wine gathering and it came out beautifully. The wines were all good too. As I remember it, that day we opened a sweet Hermitage that’s in “1001 Wines You Must Taste Before You Die”, and it was wonderful.
Antipasto
These were dishes from the course, and every one of them was good.
Pasta
The pasta was excellent too..
Mondavi ’87, Bourgogne Pinot Noir
I opened the Mondavi ’87 recently, and it was a bit past its prime. Such a shame.
Year-end party
We held our club’s year-end party at 2chef and got through it safely. Such a relief.. Thanks to everyone who organised it, and the food that day was all fantastic.
Pasta
That day too I donated a big pile of stollen, cheese and wine. The club has to thrive, after all. And then I lost my memory but somehow made it home — so the legend goes..
