Namsanteo, a budae jjigae place in Sinnonhyeon

A budae jjigae place called Namsanteo has opened near Sinnonhyeon. Apparently it was originally well known over in Cheongdam, and it does Songtan-style budae jjigae. Namsanteo seems to be a place name over in the Songtan area..

A place like this..

Namsanteo

I’m no budae jjigae expert, but.. Songtan style has a rich, concentrated broth, and if you keep reducing it as you eat the way you do with the Uijeongbu style, it ends up very salty. People who don’t really grasp the differences between the budae jjigae styles might come away less satisfied.. So honestly it might be better to just get it as takeout.

Takeout

Simmered properly

Namsanteo

It is tasty, I’ll give it that. But I’m not sure toppings like housemade bacon are really a match for budae jjigae. Budae jjigae like the one at Daewoo Sikdang is plenty good too. Still, with the Uijeongbu style being pretty much the mainstream, I think it’s worth eating this once in a while.
