Yeomyeong, a Chinese Restaurant in Gongdeok

Yeomyeong hosted my official send-off party. I’ll be living in Japan for a while, so the friends I’ve been eating my way around town with all got together.

Ukon no Chikara

This year’s holiday season was a tough one, with year-end parties and farewell parties piling on top of each other, and this turmeric shot helped a lot.

Yangjangpi

yeomyeong

As delicious as ever.

Koval

yeomyeong

An organic bourbon distilled in Chicago. It isn’t a particularly expensive bourbon, yet it has a touch of depth to it. It also gave me the feeling they use good ingredients. Some seriously good whiskey is coming out of the US these days.

Jeongabok

yeomyeong

A superb companion to drinks..

Fried dumplings

yeomyeong

It just wouldn’t feel right without them..

Palbochae, I think.. my memory’s hazy..

Jjamppong broth

yeomyeong

They call it jjamppong broth, but it was really just jjamppong without the noodles.

Nanjawanseu

yeomyeong

There are plenty of places in the city known for their nanjawanseu, but when it’s this good here, there’s no need to go anywhere far.

Yurin-gi

yeomyeong

Everything we ordered was delicious.

Given the occasion, one more bottle..

We opened another bottle, a Calvados, and it really does taste of apples. I was blown away by the quality when I tried it. Single malt is of course the number one whisky, but it has gotten so expensive lately that I bought this while looking for alternatives, and at this level the taste is more than fine. It’s a big world, and there is a lot of delicious liquor in it.
